Color and Contrast at a Track Meet
TAPPS brought me in to produce the video broadcast of the North Regional Track meet last week. Six divisions over three days in a stadium in Fort Worth. The meet was too spread out to broadcast anything but the running events which meant I had a little downtime each day. It was usually just me and the announcer in the press box (and it was a big press box). I had three lenses (400mm, 35mm, 14mm) to fill the time and a few rounds with the Osmo Pocket (see below).
Sam Able said “compose and wait,” and I had a little time for both.
The stadium had a neutral palette which made other colors pop in the sun.
And it was nice to be in one spot for three days and watch the shadows move.
Bonus: Three of my former media kids came by to say hi. It was good to see them all at work.
