Wandering Near New Salem, July 2021
She was off doing bridesmaid stuff so I went wandering through the towns around the Quabbin Reservoir. These are from a few stops along Mooosehorn Road and New Salem itself. Lovecraft’s The Color Out of Space was set here prior to formation of the reservoir. (I didn’t know that until after I was home, or I might have tried harder to get a view of it, being a fan of cosmic horror.) I spent a lot of time just driving around and walking roads through the woods with a playlist on repeat. Whenever I hear that music now I see these trees.
