Keep it Short

There is a rest area somewhere between Abilene and Big Spring that has a good view of the windmills north of I-30. I know it because I always want to stop there. There is no restroom or vending machines, only a strip to park and a few covered picnic tables.

I always want to stop. But, if I’m on 30 Westbound I’m going to Midland, and if I’m going to Midland I have one or both kids in the car. (Certain people in Midland love to see my kids.)

This time I didn’t have my kids. I’d left Waco a few hours before. It was nearly midnight.

I stopped.

Two things stood out immediately. It was cold, and the parking area was nearly full. I didn’t want to wake anyone up. I only stayed for ten minutes. I kept the flashlight to a minimum.

Shot though a 14mm prime lens on a full frame camera. I kept getting lens flare from the headlines on 30, and I didn’t want to move far from my car. So I turned around and got some light trails of traffic. Focus isn’t great.

There have been a few times that I have had to make myself either skip a spot or keep it short. Too much else going on right now.
